From the deep ocean, telepathic jellyfish-people have emerged. They still seem alien to many, but they do their best to spread the word of Sirena - Goddess of Depth on land.

They wear armor and wield weapons like the surface dwellers do, is this… how you… adventure?

Their senses, movement and ability for keeping moist is aided by psionic abilities. They do not see light, but have a similar sense of “sight”, were colors are more dependant on “aliveness” of the surfaces. Hiding from them in plain sight, therefore often requires covering exposed skin with mud for example. Their psionic abilities is also what keeps them upright and moving on land. They can also levitate, but much slower

Advancement

  • Ability Score Increases. Your Intelligence score increases by 2, and your Wisdom score increases by 1.
  • Age. Auromedusae procreate in the sea, and most on land are grown ups. They are mature at an age of 10 years. They can live to be about 150 years, but many die earlier, as they are quite fragile.
  • Alignment. Auromedusae are very unpredictable. They might not see morale as most do. And may change their alignment to fit the circumstances. You will need to set one for the game mechanics, but talk to the DM if you feel like swapping it around at any point.
  • Size. Auromedusae are between 3 and 5 feet. Your size is medium.
  • Speed. Your base walking speed is 30 feet. You have a flying speed of 10 ft. You have a swim speed of 20 ft.
  • Languages. You can read, speak, and write Common and Aquan.
  • Psionic senses. You have a form of Blindsight/Truesight that relies on seeing things as “more alive” or “more dead”. You can see in normal and magical darkness. You can see invisible creatures, though non-corporeal ones will give you a challenge (dependant on how extremely “alive” or “unalive” they might be). You can see through certain types of visual illusions. Non-magical fog will still stop you from seeing. The range of this sight is 60ft. You can not see into the far distance, you have never seen the horizon… You can not see into the Ethereal plane, you can not detect shapeshifters
  • Limited Telepathy. The Auromedusae can magically transmit simple messages and images to any creature within 120 ft. of it that can understand a language. This form of telepathy doesn’t allow the receiving creature to telepathically respond. Other individuals in your vicinity can not hear your words, unless they can read your, or the target’s mind. If you do not choose to direct your telepathy like this, everyone within hearing range can “hear you”, though this is still a form of telepathy, not vibrating air.
  • Amphibious. You can breathe air and water.
  • Emissary of the Sea. You can communicate simple ideas to any Beast, Elemental, or Monstrosity that has a swimming speed. It can understand your words, though you have no special ability to understand it in return.
  • Cold Resistant. You are resistant to Cold damage.
  • Fire Vulnerability. You are vulnerable to Fire damage.
  • Shape water. You may cast the cantrip Shape Water at will. Intelligence is your spell-casting Ability for this spell.
  • Close-combat ranged combat. Being within 5 feet of a hostile creature doesn’t impose disadvantage on your ranged attack rolls.
