Starting out
You’ve just arrived in Prinberg where you have signed on to work for the Prinberg Guard. You arrived by the Public Teleportation Circle from Tharostad most likely. Maybe hopping in from another city. You’ve been assigned to the city by a manager in the Guild of the Guard.
…Unless you’ve lived in Prinberg your whole life, and have just been recruited to the guard there. Anyway, you start of as a very fresh aspirant, you’re on your way to meet Captain - Busgar Elthorp for the first time, you’ve only heard rumors, but supposedly he used to be a Tearjerker, and his wife is a rarity, a Bound. You’ve been told not to prod to much about him and his wife’s relationship.
You will make about 5 silver a day, but your lodging and meals are taken care of for you. You will be viewed as an aspirant, not yet having proven yourself to Captain - Busgar Elthorp. You are under contract for about a month (30 days). After a month, you are free to decide if you want to stay on, as guard in Prinberg, or move on to other things. You are in many ways a hired mercenary, to act as a guard force of a small town of about 300 people.

A degraded teleportation circle
You appeared a couple of meters off from the Prinbrerg Teleport circle, when you first arrived. This was very alarming. You were told that the portal was degrading, but not that it was in such bad shape. You understood the implications. The circle is in dire need of a renewal of Aetherflux by the hand of a wizard from the Guild of Transport. Using it is on the border of being dangerous. You might feel frustrated or angry that they let you use it…

Regarding Prinberg
Silver ore used to be transported through the Teleportation circle. But none of the Prinbergers have risked hopping through it lately, just to carry 20kg of ore at a time to Tharostad… There is a conflict of money and power going on between Guild of Transport and the Bank of Tharostad that most town people only understand the outline of.

In a desperate measure the Guild of the Guard and Guild of Miners in Prinberg have started working on restoring the unused railroad and road from Prinberg to Tharostad to try to transport the ore that way. Its not 1/4 done yet. And so far they have been struggling to find resources to keep the work up.
All the time the unsold ore is heaping up in Prinberg, and a general lack of other resources is heaping up, as less is coming through the portal. The citizens might start getting anxious pretty soon…
