Nøkkans are humanoids which live in rivers, lakes or the sea. In olden times they were rumoured to lure people in and drown them. But they have entered society both on land and at sea. They have elf-like ears, sometimes their noses are flattened, their skin may range in a shade from grey, green to blue.
Advancement
- Ability Score Increases. Your Dexterity score increases by 2, and your Charisma score increases by 1.
- Age. Nøkkans mature and die at approximately the same rate as humans. Mature at 15, most die around 80 of old age.
- Alignment. Nøkkans tend to not be lawful. Valuing their own, and other’s freedom highly.
- Size. You are about 5 feet. Your size is medium.
- Speed. Your base walking speed is 30 ft. You have a swim speed of 20 ft.
- Darkvision. You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light and in darkness as if it were dim light. You discern colors in that darkness only as shades of gray.
- Languages. You can read, speak, and write Common and Aquan.
- Keen Senses. You have proficiency in the Perception and Insight skills.
- Amphibious. You can breathe air and water.
- Sea Training. You have proficiency with the spear, trident, light crossbow, and net.
- Emissary of the Sea. You can communicate simple ideas to any Beast, Elemental, or Monstrosity that has a swimming speed. It can understand your words, though you have no special ability to understand it in return.
- Water Dependency. If you fail to immerse yourself in water for at least 1 hour during a day, you suffer 1 level of exhaustion at the end of that day. You can recover from this exhaustion only through magic or by immersing yourself in water for at least 1 hour.
- Call to the Wave. When you reach 3rd level, you can cast the Create or Destroy Water spell as a 2nd-level spell once with this trait, and you regain the ability to cast it this way when you finish a long rest. Constitution is your spellcasting ability for these spells.
- Cold Resistance. Adapted to the frigid ocean depths, you have resistance to cold damage.
