Left over in the Dark Library were also gigantic robots. Many believe they were used for modifying and reorganizing the Library. Much larger than the likes of Bound and Librarians, they can still only have a single soul attached. Commanding this huge machine, takes a toll on the contained soul. This soul can only communicate if it sits completely still and someone talks to it telepathically. It does not have any way to communicate through speech. It can understand speech, and it can learn some forms of simple hand-language. When in motion it has no way of responding, but it can grasp simple instructions. Degradation of the soul moves quite fast. Most only last about 10 years in the Farm Hand, before fading out. In times of bounty, the soul having served in the Farm Hand is allowed to fizzle slowly out while the Farm Hand remains stationary. In times of famine… Let’s just say the farmers need their tools working…
Many farmers promise their souls to the Farm Hands when they die, it might be one of the better options… Usually there are more “spare souls” than there are empty Farm Hands to put them in.
