Sol had two eyes in the sky.

But he dissapeared for a time. The suns are gone. Darkness remains.

With Sol’s disappearance, the twin suns (the eyes of Sol) also vanished. No daylight, for over 100 years. The Night Century first came to an end when Sol reappeared, as the god of the Dawn, though seemingly blinded in one eye, bringing back only a single sun.

Some time nearing the end of the Night Century, the World Pillars appeared. One in the North, on in the South. They reach into the sky so far, that no end is visible. They were not friendly to each other, and this started a localized, great war on the material plane. All pre-existing life in the marshes were wiped out in an instant. At the convergence point, bodies of outer-plane entites soon piled up to such an extent, that it became known as the Mountain of Flesh. And it keeps growing to this dat. Though most entities died fighting each other, some started “drifting”. This lead to the establishment of the Nill Guardsmen, holding a line were the peninsula widens into the rest of the continent of Zarth.

2515 - Establishment of the Nill Guard & Creation of the Chasm of Nill

As a measure against the onslaught of monsters from the peninsula south east of Nill, this chasm was created by over 1000 of the sentient races’ spell casters. It was successful, and has stood, together with the Nill guard, as one of the major safeguards against the threat since.
